PROJECT PROGRESS MADE:

KISHA’S HOME: The Moore’s Chapel team brought an incredible group of 8 and answered the call to help Kisha and her girls. Mark and Nancy from Colorado joined the crew and they all got to work! If you’ve been following Kisha’s story, she was recently given a mobile home as her very own which she’s so grateful for. The trailer itself was in a bit of disrepair and in need of some good cleaning, paint and fresh flooring. The team got to work cleaning out and painting the mobile home along with assessing and addressing some plumbing issues in the bathrooms. The team spent the week working hard to get Kisha’s trailer cleaned up and painted. They even installed new flooring and re-did a bathroom. It was an A+ week for both our serve team and Kisha’s family. Many times our teams come to serve just a small portion of a large project. It's extra special when a team gets to see the great impact of their work all in one visit, this week was a week like that!

APRIL KUMMERLE: We were pleasantly surprised to find out that the team from Moore’s Chapel had a structural engineer with them! Jeff, the engineer even told us that before he came he was praying he would be able to use his unique skills. Little did he know we had prayed for a connection with a structural engineer for months, and this week was the perfect time for him to be here! Jeff agreed to evaluate the structural damage at April’s home and even to put a plan and drawing together. This is a HUGE win for the Kummerle project because the structural work has to be completed before the Fearless Team can come to town. Many local structural engineers are booked out for months, as you can imagine post hurricane. We also had a day-team from our friends at the AVL DreamCenter. A team of 8 college students worked for the day on Tuesday digging out the remainder of the crawlspace and continuing the last bits of demo work. Our hope for April Kummerle is to finish up rehab preparations next week and foundation work shortly after. Then it will be ready for the Fearless Team!

A college group serving for the day with the Asheville Dream Center came to dig out some of the crawlspace at April Kummerle home in Barnardsville.

Mark and Nancy putting some fresh paint on the walls!

The Moore’s Chapel crew hard at it painting and cleaning!
