PROJECT PROGRESS MADE:
NAYLOR HOME: Painting progress and carpentry progress was made at the Naylor home by the saddleback team. Floors were started in the farmhouse by Champion Flooring the flooring and cost of installation was a generous donation from our non-profit partners at Fearless Works! Flooring should be finished by Friday, January 30th. The last step for the Naylors to be moved in is to assemble and install kitchen cabinetry, another generous donation made by Fearless Works.
WOODWARD HOME: Final painting and small finish work was done at the Woodwards. Larry and Judy, faithful weekend volunteers came up and worked Friday and Saturday. Rob Kallgren and David began stonework on the woodstove surround.
JOY OVERTURF HOME: All plumbing was finished at Joy’s house! She can finally use her kitchen sink, dishwasher and master bathroom. Mirrors were hung and hardware was put on doors. Joy and Maddie are very close to having their whole home finished! This has been a beautiful effort by many local volunteers and also on behalf of one of our own Gathering families.
APRIL KUMMERLE HOME:It was officially determined this week that April Kummerle’s home is able to be rebuilt at its current elevation. This meant that we were able to get a team in there to continue the demo work that was started before Christmas. The Saddleback team worked for two days at the Kummerle home tearing out subfloors and kitchen cabinets.
BIG IVY COMMUNITY CENTER: From time to time we are able to partner with local distribution center to send volunteer help. A portion of the Saddleback team was able to serve at the Big Ivy Community Center in Barnardsville for two days. This is a great opportunity for our teams to connect with local families who may need support in rebuild efforts. This is how we met Kisha Philips and her family the week of January 12th.
MR. BRUCE: This weekend the Knights has the opportunity to meet Mr. Bruce, an elderly man in Weaverville whose trailer was destroyed by trees in the storm. Mr. Bruce had unfortunately been living in his trailer as mold developed until this week when an incredible non profit team with our friend Ashley Prince, working in Barnardsville furnished him with a tiny home. This was a beautiful work to witness and Mr. Bruce, an honor to meet. Our team hopes to furnish the tiny home with a recliner and a side table for Mr. Bruce to have nice spot to sit.
Mr. Cooper’s Home being demo’d by the Saddleback team!
Mr. Bruce got a shed with heat to live in!
